The Advantages of Memory Care

Memory Care goes beyond what is traditionally offered in an assisted living setting.  Housekeeping, laundry, and meal preparation services are provided, as in assisted living, but the level of assistance with activities of daily living is increased.  Often, the daily activities are designed specifically to help the individual reconnect with favorite hobbies, interests and past memories.  Many of these activities, due to fluctuating cognitive changes of the individuals, must be initiated spontaneously.  Mother of Perpetual Help (MOPH) has a full-time activity assistant dedicated to the Faith and Grace communities to initiate activities with the residents on an individual basis.

Each memory care community has a secure courtyard that allows residents the opportunity to walk outside without the risk of leaving the building or getting lost.  The communities also feature common areas, beautiful fireplaces, and family-style dining so residents can gather together to enjoy each other’s company.

Our team at Cardinal Ritter Senior Services receives specialized training to understand and meet the needs of the residents in their care. Our organization is inspired by Teepa Snow and the Positive Approach to Care® methods and dementia education. While inspired, any knowledge or skills we offer are only representative of our organization, independent of Positive Approach to Care®.

Memory Care Communities are enhanced environments dedicated to residents with dementia that offer home-style activity programming catered to individual needs with staff who understand those needs.
